Swainson's Hawk

On a recent drive with a friend, this Swainson's Hawk was kind enough to pose for a little while.
Many birders will tell you, that this species is a lot more tolerant of us humans than the other common raptor of the prairies, the Red-tailed Hawk :

Oh my! I don't even know what to say! (You'd get a chuckle if you could see my smile when my blog roll indicates you've posted something new! :)

Cracker Nick, great detail in the birds eye.

Thanks very much. I'm posting a few individual shots lately, as sometimes I can go days without posting anything as I usually like to post sets from one trip or outing.
This way there's something new to see a little bit more often :-)

Wow. Just beautiful! Is it just me or did you do a little redecorating since my last visit? Nice! :-)

I've been asked in the past how I'm able to get nice photos, I always say half the battle is just being out there, you're not gonna get photos sitting in your living room. We're lucky that you "get out there" because you sure do take some beautiful photographs that a lot of us can only hope to get.
