Always wanting to add to my animal photos collection, I risked getting a new free blast of deodorant ' Eau de Skunk '.
I'm always careful when approaching any wild animal and tend to move very slowly , and in the case of these particular critters, never directly towards them.
I got behind a hill where he couldn't see me, and remained about 15 ft away, firing off 4 quick shots before he scuttled off, giving me a little glance, not really bothered by my presence.

...just looking at that fellow makes me happy. The contrast between the glistening snow and his fur coat is beautiful.

Great shot Nick! Considering the contrast range here you didn't blowout the highlights.You may even want to try adding a little more catch light to the eye with the burn tool in PS..an easy fix.Looks as though he discovered your hiding spot and keeping an eye on you.

Yes, if the tail had gone up, I would have gotten out of there pretty quick!
Rocky, I actually did use the burn tool on the eye already , and had to ease off a tad, as the eye and details in it were already becoming too dark.

His (or her) pose is so elegant against the snow. I know someone who had one as a pet and they are very friendly and intelligent. Surprisingly heavy, too -- the one she had was very solid. Great photo!

Nice photo Nick (but I mean honestly, all of yours are). Surprised to see them out already. One thing about this shot is you can sure tell its a mustalid from that angle. Looks most mink like.
I think this is great! Black on white background, snow, etc! Only 1 chance to get it right! Excellent!
Thanks guys. I didn't exactly have a lot of time to prepare the shot, just a few tweaks of my camera settings as I ran down the hill :-)
Great photo, it won't be long and they'll start appearing around here also, usually at night. We smell 'em before we see 'em.
