Another fantastic photo! Love the yellow eyes looking up with a leer! What's a shelterbelt?

What a wonderful photograph, Nick. It looks so small compared to the needles and branches it is sitting on. I love seeing a new picture from you in FeedReader! Thank you for getting out in the cold and sharing your world.

Many thanks guys.
Hannibal, a shelterbelt is a row of trees ( often Poplar or Evergreens ) used to shelter farms from the wind and other elements.

What a great photo..I'm so jealous I tramped around looking into pines for several hours yesterday but no owls!!
Your capture is so nice!!

It would be easy to miss this bird unless you were looking closely. I have seen no owls in the wild except the Snowy Owl, and we have lots of them this winter in SW Ontario. I really enjoyed the recent pictures on your very nice blog!
