I found two at a city park this morning and eventually got lucky with some photos that I thought turned out ok.
The first one was when the sun was just coming up, and the second one I had to wait a long time to get, when I waited for him to come around from behind the tree and in the full sun.
Not the warmest of days. It felt like minus 20 in the park...

Oh yes this is one of this difficult bird! Very hard to get nice pictures but you did it well. i love the second one and your patience paid off n this one. Great shots man!

love these birds, and find their behaviors just fascinating. They're usually hugged up to the tree trunks so closely that getting the separation like you did is tricky. Great images Nick :)
Great shots, I had a brown creeper in my yard the other day but it didn't hang around long.
Nick I had a huge thrill today. I fed a Red-Breasted Nuthatch from my hand. I was apprehensive, but brave. The nuthatch has a much more lethal looking beak than Chickadees, and I had no mitts on to protect me. It was very gentle. Why do they want to look at you before they take the seeds?
It took one seed. Every time it tried to come back the Chickadees went after it like little Red Barons. Hee.
