On my way down to the river last week, I stopped off at my local park and got some more shots of two male White-winged Crossbills that are still in the area, feeding on pine cone seeds.
It was nice to find this lone Cedar Waxwing at the Forestry Farm Zoo yesterday in the company of some Bohemian Waxwings :

Blessings,Ruth
Beautiful shots! And your birds seem to eat much daintier than mine! Lol!
P.S. I got the siskin & redpoll to eat out of my hand and posted pics today. The nuthatches are still wary of me!
...your photos are always amazing. So beautiful.
This is totally unrelated--I'm reading a book called "Return to Warden's Grove" (Christoper Norment). It take place even further north than you and is about Harris's Sparrows. Do you ever catch any on their travels north? He mentions Saskatchewan...
Stunning shots, just love those waxwings..
Your pics are always so clear and vivid..characteristics I need to strive, harder for, in mine! :)
Nice Post, Nick!!
Great shots Nick.. I love the cedar waxwings.. I was lucky enough to get some good photos earlier this year and the title to my shots is "painted ladies"
Thanks for the kind words. I'll check out those pics !
Superb shots as always Nick.
Those White-winged Crossbills look stunning.
Thanks Keith, I hope you get to see some of your Crossbills this year.
It might mean traveling to Scotland though :-)
I think you're right about travelling to Scotland to see them Nick. There were some at RSPB Sandy a couple of weeks ago, but they were too elusive when I visited, and I missed them. :(
Treat yourself to a trip up there. You can get some pics of the red Squirrels at the same time !
Good idea, and one I've thought about ;)
I am running out of adjectives Nick! So, I'll just again say, stunning. :c)
Beautiful photos. I don't think I've ever seen a White-winged Crossbill before.
Great photographs. We've had a Red Crossbill in our yard for three days now. Almost unheard of here.
Your bird photography is excellent.

I love the way the red of these birds looks against the blue sky, nice contrast.
Thanks for looking everyone.
Both are really nice looking birds and I have neither of them here where I live.
