It would be easy to miss this bird unless you were looking closely. I have seen no owls in the wild except the Snowy Owl, and we have lots of them this winter in SW Ontario. I really enjoyed the recent pictures on your very nice blog!

Hannibal, a shelterbelt is a row of trees ( often Poplar or Evergreens ) used to shelter farms from the wind and other elements.
What a great photo..I'm so jealous I tramped around looking into pines for several hours yesterday but no owls!!
