Recently though, I have noticed that on particularly cold days, and when these birds are at their most hungry, they will also eat these ' leftover ' berries frozen.

And a new addition to the yard, this female showed up and enjoyed the suet :

Thanks everyone. They are not that common here in winter, but a few do linger on, providing they can find food and shelter.

Wow! These are wonderful. I really do have to do something about trying to attract birds to my yard.
I have 2 pair of these migrate through my back yard every spring and every fall. They are so much fatter in the fall and they are so busy pecking in the ground. They are great! I live in Saskatoon, Sk.
